Fast Chargers for Newer iPhones

Phone battery life has not improved at the same rate as other features. Having an extra charger at work or a power bank in your bag is handy. And with the right USB charger you can fast charge your newer iPhone up to 50% in 30 minutes.

This guide will help you get the charger and cable needed to fast charge these newer model iPhones:

  • iPhone 8/8 Plus
  • iPhone X
  • iPhone XR
  • iPhone XS/XS Max

Skip to recommended chargers, power banks, or cables.

Fast Charging Newer iPhones

Apple started using USB Power Delivery (USB PD) as the fast charging standard with the iPhone 8. It can charge your iPhone up to 15W. But in most cases it is ~8-10W.

The USB charger included with your iPhone is not a fast charger. It offers only 5W and is obsolete by today’s standards. To fast charge your iPhone you’ll need both a USB-C Power Delivery charger and a USB-C to Lightning cable. Together they will offer you much faster charging.

As you can see, USB PD is the fastest charging option. An older fast charging standard, Apple 2.4A, is also compatible with newer iPhones. It charges ~15 minutes slower than USB PD. If you want to consider an Apple 2.4A charger check out Fast Chargers for Older iPhones.
